LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCES

Leadership roles in Ngee Ann Polytechnic & CHIJ Secondary have provided me with opportunities in partaking the several flagship events as events planners and executors. The Annual Student Leader Camps, Workshops and greater interaction with our schoolmates enabled myself to become a better student leader by learning the significance in communication, participation and always carrying a positive attitude to wherever we go.

NP AMBASSADORS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER (2022/2023) & (2023/2024)

Having been in Junior EXCO (AY22/23) & Senior EXCO (Ay23/24) Committee is a pleasure to serve the school and the members of the organisation. In the 1.5 years journey of leading and guiding my members when it comes to planning & execution of flagship events and/or internal events, I have learnt values such as humility, steadfastness and gratitude. I believe that when mistakes are made, it should serve as a learning experience instead of dwelling over the issue. When a problem is brought up, there should be solution raised as well. In this way, the team will be able to grow and move forward together.

CCA COMMITTEE (2017/2018) & (2018/2019)

Being an active participant in IJ Choir since primary school has exposed me to various opportunities in leading the choir. From graduating as a Captain of CHIJ Primary Choir (2016) to getting elected as both Lower & Upper Secondary Executive Choir Committee (2017/2019) enabled myself to learn how serve and lead my juniors and batch mates in fulfilling greater sense of achievement after every single performance for both local and international competitions.

HOUSE COMMITTEE MEMBER (2019/2020)

House is an indispensable committee, essential in keeping the IJ Spirit burning bright. As a member, I was involved in numerous events to enliven & spread the IJ spirit, making CHIJ the 'second home' for many students. Being engaged with events like Cross Country 2019, National Day & Teachers Day celebrations 2019, Preparations for Open House and Chinese New Year Celebrations helped myself in character development as a person and also gained lots of new insights from different aspects.

PEER SUPPORT LEADER (2018/2019)

Being the first few faces whom the new secondary ones will meet and interact with, we were overwhelmed with enthusiasm in welcoming them into our big IJ family. With that, I was given the chance to be elected as one of the two main coordinators of leading other Peer Support Leaders in planning & conducting peer support sessions each term. Together with another coordinator, we worked with several teachers in-charge, assisted them by updating the progress of students' well-being and also helped in various administrative matters. This leadership role equipped myself with knowing the importance of time-management and teamwork.

STUDENT COUNCIL COMMITTEE (2019/2020)

As a school councillor, we were the embodiment of our school values, CHRIST; Compassion, Humility, Respect, Integrity, Steadfastness & Thoughtfulness. With these skills etched in our hearts, expectations to be role models for our schoolmates and accountability for our behaviours were foundational. Through council, I was given the opportunity to represent the school as an ambassador in ushering  parents and students of other secondary schools for events like Open House 2019, Edusave Ceremonies 2020 and Student Leaders Investiture 2020 held in our school. We also played a part in preparations for other school-wide events such as our Annual IJ Fiesta and celebrations for various occasions (Chinese New Year & Farewell Masses etc.)
